Poyang Lake, the largest freshwater lake in China, is located in northern Jiangxi Province. With an area of 2 933 km², the lake is connected to the Yangtze River in the north .
The vast Poyang Lake, together with the Stone Bell Mountain at the entrance of the lake, Mount Lushan on its banks and the surging Yangtze River, forms a splendid picture featuring the large lake, the famous mountain and the great river.
The lake is very broad and rich in resources of fish. Due to its humid weather, it is also an ideal place for white storks and many other rare birds to spend their winters. A terrace has now been built on the lake side for watching the migratory birds, and it has become one of the most spectacular scenic spots in the area.
